SteveC, a lip on the inside and outside of the spinning bowl at the top to stop the migration of the heavier particles of gunk.
Look at the drawing at the beginning of the thread. It shows a shaded area in the bowl under lip that represents the oil (my take on the drawing) this lip prevents the gunk from leaving the bowl, but allows the oil (lighter than the gunk) to flow out.
I do not understand the physics of it but the heavier particles are trapped under the lip and then cleaned out.
Dan.

All right, Tom.
I will not post to this thread or any of your future threads. Since apparently you know it all.
Dan.

Does this thing work the same way an antique cream separator worked, if so would one of those work if a person could find one.

I was cleaning some gas today that didn't look all that bad but came out of a drum of dirty fuel. the first picture is before going in to the centrifuge. the next picture is after being centrifuged and the last one is what was removed from 4 gallons.

For the last 2 years I have been using the highest grade at the pump for any engine non-computerized.

89 octane maybe? Rumor has it that there is no alcohol in it.
The engines seem to run smoother,

Since the volume is pretty low I feel the extra $ spent is worth the pain avoided.

most of the gas comes off fish tenders that are emptying there deck tanks. most of it was to dirty to use so I had drums sitting around, which got me to build the centrifuge to use them up. I got 2 drums of gas and one of diesel yet to do.

I had a drum of gas and used oil mix so I ran a gallon threw the centrifuge.I got back a thinner black mix about the same as it went in. so I stopped and went to clean the centrifuge bowl just to find it full of a gray mater. I am guessing it is the additives from the oil.
