Will this diverter valve fit my massey ferguson 1020 gear trans? If I remember right it is a late 80's model. I would go look for specific year, but it is at the shop right now so we can replace the throwout bearing.

The words "diverter valve" is a link to the part he is asking about. I do not know the answer so I cannot comment on his question

Sorry for the confusion with the link, but I don't think I need that part. My hydraulic pump is not in the trans, but on the side of the engine. Now another question. Can I come from the existing pump (tractordata says 5.1gpm, pressure not given) to a double spool valve, then from power beyond on that valve to the existing line and still have everything work? 3 point will hold up implement for about 10 minutes with engine off, and I can't see holding a loader stick for nearly that long. Also I would have to find a place to run the return from that valve, maybe into one of the side plugs in the trans? Or would I need to use the return if I use the power beyond?

After thinking it over for a minute, a more appropriate approach may be to tee off of the line at the pump, and take it to a closed center valve. This would let the original relief set the pressure. Of course I don't know what the pressure on the original system is, but I could put a pressure gauge on the tee and find out before going farther.

Unless the system is closed center now t-ing the line wont work. All the flow will continue to the open center part of the system.

Ah, true on the open center, didn't think about that. How about putting new valve direct from the pump and using the power beyond to the existing pressure line to the 3 point? Does that sound like an option? No power steering so no worries there.

That should work fine. Unless you're using the 3pt control at the same time as the loader, you could get away without power beyond on the loader control. The power beyond simply allows the controls relief valve to see tank pressure, when there is a load on the return line. Unless you're moving the 3pt control it should be open to the tank, so the valve ahead of it see's tank pressure.

Ah, thanks for that. Now I know what to get! But first the new throwout bearing.
