IT'S ALLIIIVVVVEEEE !!!!!

I got the truck running today cool
Found out what was giving it a hard time starting.....the alternator was seized.
After I get the alternator cleaned up and put back on.....with a new belt whistle I'll be able to run it a little longer without risking it overheating as well as the battery going dead.
I found out also that I need to replace the brake line that goes to the back .......as well as a front fender.....now.
One of the next things to do is get the bolt that I broke out of the rear yoke. laugh

Today's accomplishments.... alternator back on and working (new belt), new brake line installed, removed excess wire and hoses..for now, removed broken bolt....s from the rear yoke crazy managed to break a second one taking the driveshaft off.
Next on the list....repair the other brake line that broke, fix some corroded wires and get batteries charged, get back into modifying the deck. smile

Last summer I took the leaky carburator out of my 8hp Briggs & Straton in my wood chipper. I got a kit for it but some parts were wrong. I when back to the repair place, gave them back the kit and they ultrasonic cleaned the parts I had. Then I threw it in a box and got back to work on my tracked backhoe. The chipper sat outside under a tarp since then. A couple of days ago I put the carb back together and eventually foumd all the bolts and pices to put the motor back together. I put in gas and pretty much expected to spend the next hour trying to get it to run. About 18 inches into the first pull the engine started and surprised the heck out of me. I guess thrill is a good word to describe it.

Thanks guys smile
It is a super feeling.....the truck actually runs quite well and despite sitting for over two years it hasn't blown any smoke at all. As long as I get the juice to the starter, it starts as though it's been running daily.
All the little bugs from sitting will get worked out....I'll be needing this truck soon...work is comming !! cool

I got a bit of work done on the deck today. I think I've got the batteries sorted out now so there is good ones in the truck....helps a lot for starting laugh.
That crane is HEAVY!! note on the one pic the placement of the jack......in this position the two sides are closely balanced for weight.

Managed to get a little work done on the weekend. Got a piece of checker plate welded in across the front to fill in the hole, and the front mounts are done. I had to shift the deck slightly to the one side as it wasn't quite centered.
Next step will be to run the wires and hoses from front to back and fit the floor in place.

A little more progress. Not as quickly as I would like but it is progress all the same.

little short? did you bend the edges? guess your going to weld the entire edges maybe spot weld the bottom of pan to the cross members? top or bottom? are you going to drill a few weeping holes for rain to flow out? or is it going to be a swimming pool.. haha

It's a 10' sheet, I'll be putting another piece behind this one. I had the edges bent at a shop, I would never have got it bent very nicely at all. Think it's 10 gauge if I remember correctly.
The edges will be completely welded as well as spots on the cross members. If you look closely you may see that I cut holes to line up with the cross members that I will plug weld.
I wasn't going to cut any holes for water drain, don't think it'll be much of an issue. I hope to have/make some sort of cover for the top, keep snow and stuff out; less need to tie everything down as well.
Kinda like the swimming pool idea, would have been nice this summer laugh

Spent a couple hours today, got part of the floor pan welded down and the hydraulic tank and fuel tank fastened in place.
I forgot the camera again though, so no pictures.

Been tryin to get more done, seems to be going slow, but every little bit is still progress.
I ended up buying a new helper spring rest, would have taken a few hours anyway to build one. I also picked up 4 new bolts for the rear yoke and got them on.
With the fuel tank in place, I had to change the fill tube.

I did get the hydraulics hooked back up, didn't take any pictures though.
I hope to soon get a sheet of steel for the back and work on finishing that up.

I took a picture of what used to be on the back of the truck that I removed along with the center section of the deck assembly.
The piece of tubing that was across the back I was going to replace with a piece of 3x3x1/4 tubing. I realized however that I could reuse the 3x8 that was already there, keeping more of the strength.

This camera doesn't take great pictures without good light.
