Hello all, I have had the intention to build a small working model of a Hymac 480 excavator for some time now. I have collected a few bits for it ready for the build. Unfortunately I have a hundred other projects going on as well so something has to give and this time its the excavator project. As a result these follwing parts are for sale;

Kubota 1.5t mini digger metal tracks (rusty looking but good condition)
Rams x 6 some the same size most 3/8 bsp
Reusable hydraulic fittings x 16 1/4 bsp
Hydraulic hose 3/8 1/2 1/4 various lengths
4 lever valve block 3/8 bsp
Hydraulic pumps double and single
Small Hydraulic tank
Slew ring rated at 750kg (brand new)
6.5Hp pull start engine New (has cracked air filter housing though)
Small homemade digger boom and dipper with bucket.

I need the space as I have to move agasin! so all these parts are now open to offers.

I will try and atatch a picture of the small garden digger that i built as this shows the valve block, fittings, rams . pump and tank.

Please see the link below for pics of my home built digger and crawler tractor

Balin, what did you use for your tracks on your mini-dozer? What kind of clutches are those? That's a nice build, I'm a sucker for anything with tracks on it. Wish I was still stationed over there, I'd come look at it closer.

Hello terry, The tracks are just 2 inch pitch roller chain, its usually used in heavy duty conveyers. I welded some 40 x 6 mm flat bar onto each seperate link for the cleats, the some 10 x 6 mm flats on those for grip. The clutches are from a classic mini car, I had a few lying around so I cut the ring gear off the flywheels and found a way to attatch them to a central bearing. It did start off with a belt main clutch but I later changed that for a centrifugal one as the belt kept slipping. Its got a 3 speed plus reverse gearbox from a sit on mower with double reduction to the sprockets, its quite quick in 3rd still. The sprockets were also made from mini bits, they are drum brakes with bits of scaffold tube cut in half to from moon shape bits and welded on to the drum. I no longer have the crawler, it got broken up when the engine blew and I gave the rest away to a friend as a project.

Aw,that's too bad. That is one fine build. Did your friend get around to doing anything with it? Seems like an awful lot of work went into it just to let it go.....
Cheers!

It was a shame to see it go but I was moving house and I had a lot of stuff to move into a smaller space so it had to go. It was kind of a payment for his help moving as well. He hasn't done a lot with it yet, he was planning on putting a bigger engine in and making the tracks slightly longer for more grip. It did have a small dozer blade that I made out of a gas cylinder on the front when I had it, i didn't take any photos of that though. It worked really well, only problem was the puny 5 hp engine couldn't take the strain and threw its rod bearing.
